When I was a boy, I used to chase rainbows.
I remember the sharp grass underneath my feet and the smell of rain from lingering showers.
I thought there would be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I was stupid but I didn’t care. I ran until I couldn’t run anymore.
I never found it.
Markets are different for everyone.
Maybe you only trade NFTs, maybe you’re focused on the tech. Perhaps you’re building something great… or maybe you’re just bored. Whatever your path may be, I do want to reiterate a universal truth about Cryptocurrency:
Most of us are here for money.
Bitcoin is a jealous god; So, it makes sense that time, dedication and calculated risk tend to be rewarded. As you may have realized, the market tends to punish the greedy and naive. It scoffs and mocks the fearful. Sometimes the punishments are much too severe. Sometimes they aren’t severe enough.
Something I have noticed after years in this game is that fortune truly favors the brave. So much, in fact, that the brave tend to be rewarded in ways that defy reality, expectation and desire.
Many people would call this “luck”. I, call bullshit.
Popping the Bubble…
No one ever sees the amount of losses a winner had to take to get to where they are.
They don’t see the hours, or the connections formed, or even the mental resilience they built over the course of many years to deal with adversity.
So, what do they see?
They see the end result — The big win. They only see the shiny pot of gold at the end of the rainbow; completely ignoring the distance it took to get there.
We can call these people excuse-makers.
They cry that “the world is unfair.” Be cautious around such people.
They will, by virtue, drag you down with their defeatist mindset. They are doomed until this mindset changes. They are the fools who still believe in fairy tales, leprechauns and “luck”. They are punished the most in this cruel market.
If this sounds like you; good. I aim to pop every bubble you live inside.
Life isn’t fair and we are not all going to make it. The world owes you nothing… and Bitcoin doesn’t care.
Winners & Losers
From Chimpions WL, to y00ts scholarships, all the way down to $BONK airdrops, we’ve seen the same winners… and the same excuses from the same people. You can’t win them all, but if you aren’t winning at all, there is room for improvement.
There is no monopoly on “luck”.
Luck belongs to those who position themselves accordingly. People who constantly fight to be in the right place at the right time, deserve every last win that comes their way. That’s the honest truth.
“Cool, Lite. That’s pretty much common sense. But how can we put ourselves in these positions?”
I have four very good tips for you below:
Pay attention and stay informed
Follow everything about a project. Make a spreadsheet. Talk amongst your friends and gather alpha from well respected DAOs. An NFT is not just a picture, it is a gateway into an exclusive club that can grant you many opportunities. I’m not asking you to spend thousands of dollars on a Solana Monkey Business NFT. There are much cheaper options that can start you on your journey.
At the moment (on Solana) I recommend: Elixir, Famous Fox Fed and Liberty Square.
As always, do your own research. I firmly believe good alpha is essential. Many DAOs will simply present you with opportunities that nobody else has access to. Sometimes, all it takes is clicking a reaction on Discord. Literally.
This applies to coin traders as well.
Form real connections.
Building off my initial point; get to know the people in your respective DAO(s). You will find many of these people are ambitious and very connected. Strive to form genuine connections with them.
Keyword being genuine.
Do not get to know someone for the sole purpose of potentially receiving something. Get to know them for who they are. Be a friend, not a leech. Who knows? An opportunity may present itself in the future.
Grind harder
Excuses sound best to the people who make them.
You will stumble many times, but it does not matter as long as you stay motivated. Making a crucial mistake (like having your entire portfolio wiped because you didn’t buy a ledger) or seeing a friend acquire a treasure you have longed for sucks. But in my opinion, you should celebrate when your friends win.
At the end of the day, mistakes and experiences are beautiful. The law of attraction is real. Your brain is the ultimate problem-solving tool. Everything is a learning experience. Pay attention and work your ass off.
There is a significant difference between kind of trying and giving it your all.
Read that last part again.
Work hard, especially when you don’t want to.
Be early.
This is a bit of a bonus tip. Being early is king. You rarely lose by showing up first. Unfortunately, laggards tend to get trampled on. Use information and the connections you form to get in places other people want to be, before they can get there.
Find ways to always be in the know.
If you’ve ever seen success on a graph, you understand it is not linear.
In the world of crypto, finance and trading, you must pay your dues and do your time. Some people make an absolute killing in a bull market — then lose it all in the bear. For those determined enough… they will make it back. They will recover.
Because for the lucky ones, failure is not an option.
Keep grinding. Tomorrow might be your lucky day. — Lite.
